Answer

Should I revoke authorities before or after launch?

Short answer

On a pump.fun launch you don't need to revoke anything, because the mint, freeze and update authorities are already null at creation.

On pump.fun, the question does not arise

pump.fun tokens are created with their authorities nulled. There is no mint authority to inflate supply, no freeze authority to lock holders out, and no update authority to change the metadata. Name, ticker and image are fixed, and supply is fixed at one billion.

So the before-or-after question is not a decision you make. It is done for you as part of creation, and any vendor selling you a revoke step on top of a standard pump.fun launch is charging for something that is already true.

You can confirm this yourself rather than taking it on trust: open the mint in a block explorer and look for the mint and freeze authority fields. On a pump.fun launch they come back empty, which is why sellers of revoke services are not really selling you a safety upgrade on these coins.

  • Mint authority: null
  • Freeze authority: null
  • Update authority: null
  • Supply: fixed at 1,000,000,000

On a separate token creator, it is a paid line item

If you create the token with a third-party tool rather than through pump.fun, authorities are yours to set and yours to revoke, and vendors charge for the revoke as a separate purchase. Measured prices on 30 October 2026: Jumpbit charges 0.05 SOL plus 0.002 SOL with revokes free; solana-token-creator.com charges 0.1 SOL base plus 0.1 per add-on, typically 0.3; Smithii charges 0.5 SOL plus 0.1 per revoke; soltokencreator.io charges 0.5 SOL plus 0.1 per revoke.

So the revoke itself commonly runs around 0.1 SOL per authority. At about $93.96 per SOL that is roughly $9.40 each, and there are usually two or three to do.

  • Jumpbit: 0.05 + 0.002 SOL, revokes free
  • solana-token-creator.com: 0.1 base, 0.1 per add-on
  • Smithii and soltokencreator.io: 0.5 base, 0.1 per revoke
  • Revoke before you announce, not after — the point is that no one can change it later

What revocation does and does not do

Revoking mint authority removes the ability to create more tokens. Revoking freeze authority removes the ability to stop people transferring. Neither touches the liquidity, the holder distribution or the price. A token with every authority revoked can still go to zero, and most do.

When you are assessing someone else's token, a revoked authority is a floor, not a clean bill. Check holders and the first transactions as well.

That distinction is worth holding onto when you read a listing that boasts about revoked authorities as though it were a guarantee. It is one less way to be robbed and nothing more.

The remaining risk is human: whoever holds the largest share of the supply can still sell it, and no revoke transaction changes that.

Do I need to revoke authorities on a pump.fun coin?

No. They are null at creation, so there is nothing left to revoke.

How much does revoking cost on a token creator?

Commonly around 0.1 SOL per authority — Smithii and soltokencreator.io charge 0.1 each on top of 0.5 base; Jumpbit includes revokes free.

Does revoking make a token safe?

It removes supply and freeze risk only. Liquidity, holder concentration and the first buys still decide what happens to the price.

If the brand and the page are what is stopping you

Mint a Brand draws the icon, banner and stickers, builds the token site on its own subdomain and prepares the launch for your wallet to sign, for $30. Your wallet pays the network fee and is the creator of record.
