Short answer

0.01495 SOL — about $1.40 — is the total cost of a pump.fun launch, measured on mainnet on 30 October 2026: 0.01444 SOL of refundable account deposits plus 0.00051 SOL of network fee, with no platform fee.

The launch is the cheap part. What people spend is the trading fee, the first buy, and the time it takes to find anyone who cares.

The total, measured rather than estimated

We read a real launch off the chain: a CreateV2 transaction on 30 October 2026 paid 0.0144428 SOL into account deposits and 0.00051 SOL in network fee. That is 0.01495 SOL — about $1.40. pump.fun charges no platform fee to create a coin, on any pairing.

What other launch tools charge

Every figure below was read on the vendor's own pricing page on 30 October 2026, converted at the SOL price shown above. They are not all selling the same thing — most sell the transaction and nothing else — so the last row is not comparable line for line, and says so.

RouteCost todayWhat that buys
pump.fun, directly 0.01495 SOL ($1.40) No platform fee. Only the network: refundable deposits plus fee, measured on mainnet 30 October 2026.
Jumpbit 0.052 SOL ($4.87) 0.05 SOL launch plus a 0.002 SOL base fee; 0.01 SOL per bundled first buy.
solana-token-creator.com 0.1 SOL ($9.37) 0.1 SOL base, metadata and logo hosting included; 0.1 SOL per add-on, so a typical setup with both revocations is 0.3 SOL.
Smithii 0.5 SOL ($46.83) 0.5 SOL including on-chain fees; revoking mint or freeze authority is 0.1 SOL each.
soltokencreator.io 0.5 SOL ($46.83) 0.5 SOL for the mint and metadata; each authority revocation is 0.1 SOL more.
Mint a Brand (this site) $30 (0.320 SOL) The transaction *and* the work before it: icon, banner, stickers, a site on its own subdomain and the launch prepared for your wallet. The network fee is still yours.

Vendor prices change without notice and some add a payment-transaction fee on top; each number above is the published headline on the date checked, not a quote.

The graduation number everyone gets wrong

A coin graduates when 85.0054 SOL of real SOL has gone into the curve, which is a market cap of about 410.88 SOL — roughly $38,479 at today's price. You will read "$69k" in a lot of guides, including on launcher sites that should know better. That is the same SOL threshold converted at an older SOL price. The threshold is denominated in SOL; only the dollar figure moves.

What people mean by "hidden fees"

  • They are usually not hidden, just late. The 1.25% on every trade is the largest number in most launches, and it is charged on every buy and sell, including your own first buy.
  • Priority fees are optional and volatile. During congestion a launch can carry a five-figure-lamport priority fee to land at all. One observed launch paid 0.0005 SOL of fee on a 0.015 SOL transaction.
  • Failed transactions still cost. The network fee is deducted before execution.
  • Graduation costs 0.015 SOL and is not optional. On a non-SOL pair it can land on whichever trader's buy completes the curve.
  • Creator fees do not arrive by themselves. They accrue in two separate vaults — one on the curve, one after migration — and each needs its own collect instruction. Unclaimed is unbanked.

Questions

So what is the real minimum to get a token live?

About 0.015 SOL, roughly $1.40, paid by your own wallet. That gets a mint with metadata on a bonding curve. Nothing else is required — not a website, not a logo beyond the launch image, not a liquidity pool.

Why do some guides say a launch costs $100 or more?

Because they are pricing a launch with a first buy, a bundle of buyer wallets, a Jito tip, a volume bot or a paid "call". Those are separate purchases, and several of them are the reason most launches look manipulated on chain. The transaction itself is about a dollar and a half.

Do I have to buy my own token at launch?

No. If you do, it is the cheapest price you will ever pay, and it is also the position every later buyer inspects before buying. A launch with no creator holding and a launch with 30% in one wallet are two different sales problems.

Can I get the deposits back?

Only by closing the accounts, which nobody does while people hold the token. Treat the ~0.0144 SOL as gone, and treat any guide that calls it "refundable" without that caveat as optimistic.

What does a paid launch service add, for $30?

Not the transaction — that is nearly free. It adds the work before the transaction: an icon, banner and sticker set drawn for the coin, a token site on its own subdomain, and the launch prepared for your wallet to sign. If you can do all of that yourself, do it for free; the free route is written up here.

What you get for $30

The art, the site and the prepared launch — not the network fee, which your wallet pays directly, and not the audience, which no one can sell you.
