Answer

Can I change the name or image after launching?

Short answer

No. On a pump.fun launch the mint authority, freeze authority and metadata update authority are all set to null in the create transaction, so the name, ticker and image cannot be changed by anyone — including you — once it is signed.

Why it is permanent

The coin is a Token-2022 mint with its metadata stored inside the mint account, and the update authority is null from the first block. There is no admin function and no support ticket that undoes it.

What that forces on you

This is the one part of a launch that deserves real time before you sign.

  • Check the ticker for collisions before launch, not after.
  • Read the name out loud and on a phone screen at small size.
  • Have someone else read the spelling — a missing letter is permanent.
  • Look at the icon at 48 pixels, where it will actually be seen.

What you can still change

Your website, your socials, your copy and your community — everything off-chain. Some launchpads let you update the social links on the coin page; the mint itself does not move.

If the mistake is serious, the only remedy is a second coin, and the first one remains on chain forever with your wallet as its creator.

If you have already signed it

Launch a second coin with the name you meant, and say in the first line of the announcement that it is a corrected version of the first one. People forgive a typo in a way they do not forgive being quietly moved to a different contract, and the first mint stays tied to your wallet where anyone can find it.

Do not reuse the old ticker for the new coin without saying so, and do not ask buyers to send the first coin anywhere to "swap" it. There is no migration path between two independent mints, and an offer to swap is the shape of a scam whether or not you mean it that way.

  • Correct it in public, in the first line, with the new address beside the old one.
  • Expect the old coin to keep existing and to keep your wallet as its creator.
  • Never ask holders to send tokens to be exchanged for the new coin — there is no such mechanism and the request reads as a rug.

Related questions

Can the creator mint more tokens later?

No. The mint authority is null, so the supply is fixed at one billion for the life of the coin.

Can my wallet be frozen?

No. The freeze authority is null, which is why buyers do not have to worry that a holder's tokens can be locked.

Is this different on a normal token creator?

Yes. Most token creators keep those authorities in your wallet, and charge about 0.1 SOL per revocation. On a bonding-curve launch there is nothing to revoke.

Where to go next

If the brand and the page are what is stopping you

Mint a Brand draws the icon, banner and stickers, builds the token site on its own subdomain and prepares the launch for your wallet to sign, for $30. Your wallet pays the network fee and is the creator of record.
