Answer

What image size does pump.fun need?

Short answer

Upload a square image, ideally 512x512 as a PNG or JPG, and design it to survive being shrunk to a feed thumbnail.

Square dark card tiles of varying sizes stacked on slate, one standing and lit along its edge.

Square, and not much else

The requirement is a square image. Feed cards, list rows and thumbnails are all built on a square frame, and a non-square upload gets cropped or letterboxed depending on where it is displayed — usually cropped from the centre, which is exactly where people put text and faces.

512x512 is the practical target. It is large enough to look sharp on a high-density phone screen and small enough that nothing about the upload is slow or awkward. Larger files gain nothing visible; smaller ones get soft on modern displays.

File size is a secondary concern. A 512x512 PNG of a simple shape lands in the tens of kilobytes, and there is no prize for uploading something larger than the display will ever use.

  • Square aspect ratio, 1:1
  • 512x512 is the sensible default
  • PNG or JPG
  • Centre the subject — edges may be cropped on some surfaces

How it actually appears

On the pump.fun coin page the icon sits beside the name and ticker and is shown fairly large. In a feed or a list it is a thumbnail — 48 pixels is a realistic size to design against — and in a screenshot shared to a group chat it may be smaller still.

DEX Screener renders the same image in its pair listings and trending bar, and a pair only appears there after the first trade. So the first time most people meet your icon, it will be small, moving past them in a column of other small icons.

  • Coin page: large, plenty of detail visible
  • Feed and list: 48px thumbnail, detail gone
  • Social screenshot: whatever the platform recompresses it to
  • The DEX Screener trending bar starts at $2,000, where an icon competes with dozens of others

Fixing it before you cannot

Because the image is immutable after launch, the checks belong before you sign. Open the file at 48x48 on a phone, in daylight, next to whatever else is on your screen. If it does not read, redraw it: fewer elements, stronger silhouette, more contrast.

Note also that the launch transaction itself is cheap — 0.01495 SOL, of which 0.0144428 SOL is refundable — so the temptation is to launch immediately and fix the art later. There is no later.

The same applies to the name and ticker: check them on a narrow phone screen before signing, because those are permanent too, and a ticker that wraps awkwardly in a feed is a small, daily irritation for the life of the coin.

  • Preview at 48x48 and at 24x24 before uploading
  • Check it against both a white and a dark background
  • Avoid thin strokes and text; both vanish at thumbnail size

What size image does pump.fun need?

A square image, ideally 512x512, in PNG or JPG.

What happens if I upload a rectangle?

It will be cropped or letterboxed depending on where it is displayed, usually from the centre — so keep the important part of the image centred.

Can I replace the image later?

No. The image is immutable at launch and the token's authorities are null, so the file you upload is permanent.

Where to go next

If the brand and the page are what is stopping you

Mint a Brand draws the icon, banner and stickers, builds the token site on its own subdomain and prepares the launch for your wallet to sign, for $30. Your wallet pays the network fee and is the creator of record.
