Answer

What should I post before launching a coin?

Short answer

Post 2-5 times a day for weeks on a topic you actually know, link to one real artefact you made, and say nothing about the coin until launch day.

The account has to exist before the coin does

The evidence on promotion is blunt. On Telegram, where an announcement goes out to people already assembled, a pump.fun token that advertises a channel graduated at 1.485% against 0.166% for one that does not — 8.94 times the rate. On X the same push moves 0.149% to 0.227%. A website on its own barely moves anything.

That ordering matters. Promotion amplifies attention that already exists; it does not create it. If you open an account the day you launch, you are asking strangers to trust a profile with no history, no replies and no reason to believe you will still be there next week.

  • Two to five posts a day, most days, for at least a few weeks before launch
  • Write about the subject you would write about unpaid — meme history, a niche, a craft
  • One real artefact: a page, a document, a data pull, a drawing — something a reader can open
  • Reply to people in your topic area so the account has a visible conversation trail

What not to post

Do not seed the timeline with teasers. A countdown with no product behind it collects a handful of quote-posts and nothing else, and it spends the one attention spike you get for free. Keep the coin out of the account until the coin is live and has an address you can paste.

Avoid the standard growth advice. X rules prohibit follow churn, buying followers, scripting and duplicate posts, and duplicate posts may be removed from search. In the United States, 16 CFR 465.8 makes buying fake indicators of influence for a commercial purpose unlawful. Paid promotion must be disclosed as #ad.

  • No memecoin ticker, no chart, no teaser before launch
  • No bought followers: the numbers are fake and the rule-breaking is real
  • Disclose any paid promotion on the post itself
  • Keep posting after launch — most coins last trade on their creation day, so silence reads as abandonment

Why bother, given the odds

0.198% of tokens on pump.fun have graduated — 1,651 out of 832,941 — and 68.67% last trade on the day they were created. Building an audience first is not a guarantee of anything; it is the difference between an announcement that reaches people who know you and one that reaches nobody.

Decide in advance what you will do if the coin does nothing. Most go to zero, and a plan for that is part of the preparation, not an afterthought.

The practical test is whether anyone would read the account if the coin never happened. If they would not, neither will they read the announcement — they will simply be one more timeline that scrolls past.

  • Post because the subject interests you, not because a coin is coming
  • Expect nothing: 0.198% of tokens graduate and 68.67% last trade on day one
  • Decide before launch what you will say if nobody buys

Related questions

How long before launch should I start posting?

Long enough that the account has a body of work rather than a few days of filler — several weeks of regular posts is a reasonable minimum, and longer is better.

Can I mention that a coin is coming?

You can, but it spends attention you will want on launch day and invites people to ask for a date you may not keep. The stronger version is to say nothing until the address exists.

Does posting actually sell coins?

It moves attention, not price. Coins advertising a Telegram channel graduated at 1.485% against 0.166%; an X presence moved the rate from 0.149% to 0.227%. Nothing about that promises a return.

Where to go next

If the brand and the page are what is stopping you

Mint a Brand draws the icon, banner and stickers, builds the token site on its own subdomain and prepares the launch for your wallet to sign, for $30. Your wallet pays the network fee and is the creator of record.
